On this Northeast corner, the sun-melt rode the icicles.  ...  The icicles grew in the cooler air, but still, they began to drip steadily now.  ...

Finally, down in The Valley, the last of the snow was beginning to disappear.  ...  Up on Mt. Abe, of course, it still had a ways to go.  ...

But even so, something had turned a corner.  ...  And slowly, it hit me.  ...

Even up here in the Notch, it wouldn't be long now.  ...
