Radio & Television I can resist everything except temptation.
According to the promo, Fox's newest pitch at audience share is "a short-order unscripted series in which four unmarried couples travel to the Caribbean to test and explore the strength of their relationship." ... The show, of course, is Temptation Island [Fox, Wed., 9 pm ET]. We're not sure exactly why, but some 11 million viewers tuned in the first night, which aired a couple of weeks ago. The more cynical among us might think it was because the show features a flock of young men and women, mostly parading around in a tropical paradise in bathing suits. But somehow, we doubt that accounts for the attraction. ... What is is, then? ... Well, like we said, we're not exactly sure. But our resident alien, 'Horse', has been up to his usual questions again. {If you're not already familiar with horse, just go to our Back Issues section and type his nickname in. Then you'll see how he keeps us busy around here.} ...
In any case, Horse wanted to know what accounted for the fascination with Temptation Island. And frankly, we're curious ourselves. ... But unlike times past, when we'd take Horse's question to the streets and ask you ... this time, Horse was reluctant. He said it was because of the cold weather; but actually, we think it was because he turned into something of a couch potato over the holidays. {It was his first holiday season here, and, as he said New Year's Day, "Dït æ's eìn ayåsöm'è nik't," which, very loosely translated, means something like, "That was an awesome night." ... We had a feeling we shouldn't have let him out on his own. It's not that he's young; but he is still impressionable.} In an event, in lieu of a person in the street interview this month, we promised Horse we'd pose his question via the magazine. ... So, without further ado, let us ask you ...
