Out & About

What Surrounds Us:  Photos from Mid-Autumn

With one or two exceptions, most of the following photos were taken during mid-Autumn around the Valley.  Some of the spots you may recognize, others, not.  They range from DownStreet's home up here in the Bristol Notch, on up through Hardscrabble and Monkton Ridge toward Hinesburg ... over to Dead Creek in Addison ... and out to the Lake up in Burlington.

Unlike last month's offering -- Photos from the First Day of Fall -- these photos were taken on various days.  In addition, also unlike last month. they are not presented in chronological order.  ...

We hope you enjoy these ...

I should have written it in my notebook, but I didn't.  ...

The first snowfall up here in the Bristol Notch came in early October ... I think around the 4th, the Feast of St. Francis.

Needless to say, it didn't last.  ...

We took a drive up to the Lake one afternoon.  It's a wonderful place to contemplate.  ...

You can barely see them in this thumb- nail, but the geese were heading south over Hardscrabble Road.  ...

After the leaves had fallen, we drove up the Notch one Sunday afternoon, down the other side of Parker's Hill, to the Lust Farm in Lincoln.

This fellow was grazing in the field ...

along with some companions.  ...
