Folks Who Watch Big Brother or Survivor,
Folks Who Don't, & Why

A People DownStreet Survey

The Place:  Bristol Village
The Question:
Have you watched either Survivor or Big Brother, and either way, why?
The Particpants:  Dana Vautier, Alan & Marianne Clark, Jacquie Werner-Gavrin, Cortney Lucia, Joe Desorda, Ryan Cousino, The Cole Family, and Mark Johnson.

Dana Vautier:  No.  I can't say that I do watch Survivor. Actually, my parents talked about it once, so I decided to watch it one night, and it wasn't that interesting to me. I guess {laughs} I'd like it more if I was on the show.  Big Brother I don't know of. ... I really don't have much time for TV anymore. I'm out of high school and working, so it's just not as big as it was.

Alan & Marianne Clark:  {Marianne speaking} I watch. I think it's interesting.  ...
Jacquie Werner-Gavrin:  I haven't.  I don't watch much television, so that's why.

Cortney Lucia:  Yes, I watch.  I just think it's interesting. Big Brother is interesting ... But Survivor is actually exciting. ...
Joe Desorda:  {Holding out a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, which he wanted to make sure we got in the picture.}  I watch it because I like reality-based TV. ... And I like voyeurism.

Ryan Cousino:  I watched Survivor once. It was the final one, and it was kind of weird because I hadn't watched any of them before, so it was kind of confusing.  I didn't think that I'd really watch it again because it was kind of boring.  I don't know.  There was just something about the show that turned me away from it.  I ended up switching the channel.  So I don't know.  It's just not my kind of show.
The Cole Family:  {Mrs. Cole speaking.} Oh, God.  Are we going to be advertised as Survivor watchers?  Yes, I watch.  Big Brother started when he was born {points to baby}, so it was a good way to just relax.  It was on at the right time, too, after I was done nursing.  So, yes ...

Mark Johnson:  I don't even know what they are. Sorry.
