Out & About

What Surrounds Us:  Photos from the First Day of Fall

It was a bright, beautiful, cool day, wedged nicely between some warm but wet weather, and a chill overcast the day after.  ...  It was the first of Fall.  The leaves hadn't yet quite turned the corner into color.  The ridgeline was coming along.  But even there, it still had a ways to go before one might get that sense of being in a 3-D stained glass scene.

At first, we were tempted to photograph the bridge.  But the sun seemed to be hitting the Old Round Church just right, so we couldn't resist.

From Richmond, we went up the road to Huntington ... through the village ... and out up to the Hollow Road.

The view of Camel's Hump is definitely impressive.

We drove down the Hollow Road back into Hinesburg, into the village, and hung a left onto the road to Charlotte.  ...  At the Carse Farm, we came upon this young guy, in the shade of an old apple tree.  Up the road, we could hear the whine of a chain saw going full tilt.  Some folks were taking down the posts and beams of an old barn.  ...
